Pencil Skirts and Maxi Dresses, We Progress While Hashem Blesses

The first two photos are from Burberry Prorsum's Pre-Fall 2012 collection.
From its earthy colors to its clean silhouettes, I'm loving these outfits from top to bottom. (Except, the skirts could use a hem alteration ;).

These pieces are chic and classy but also have an edge with the bow belts.
I've also posted another picture which is not from the BP Collection, but it's similar with its strict silhouettes and honest fabrics. I love it!

Another look I'm loving for this season is the maxi dresses. It's difficult to find ones that could be worn in winter, but depending on the fabric and what you pair the maxi with, it could look sensational.
The following looks are great examples of a perfect maxi dress for fall/winter. I'd match the dresses with chunky necklaces or a variety of bangles just to give it a little sparkle! A sparkly over-sized clutch bag would look great as well!

Tzniut And Sexy Don't Go Together, BARUCH HASHEM For This Cold Weather

Orthodox Dress Gets Sexy from Jewish Daily Forward on Vimeo.

I am APPALLED by the comments made in this video. I am in shock and shattered by the outlook found within my fellow Jewish sisters.
Tzniut Can Be Sexy?

I beg to differ.

Of course a Jewish woman should try her best to still look attractive, but to go to the extent of wearing tight, revealing clothing, and flaunting different body parts IS NOT TZNIUT.

Even if a person's skirt reaches their knees, their shirt covers their collarbone, and their sleeves cover their elbows, it is possible that they still aren't tzniut.
Different patterns, colors, and designs can very easily attract the wrong type of attention. This is when attractive turns into attracting.

We don't want that. Hashem doesn't want that.

I'm not trying to be harsh, I know that Tzniut is the area where almost every girl struggles. It's our weakness. BUT, to think that you can bend Halacha and still keep it? That's wrong. And that's why this video bothered me so much.
If these women were to say "Tzniut is difficult. This is the level we're holding.. But we hope to reach a greater level" I'd be so inspired! But the fact of the matter is, these women show pride and a sense of leadership. And these woman should not be leaders to the women of Klal Yisroel.

"Tzniut is sexy" IS an oxy-moron.

Unfortunately, when women are told, "Oh my gosh, you look so hot/sexy!"... They get excited. They take it as a compliment!
But is it?...

When being told such things, do we take a look at ourselves and ask, 'Am i giving off that impression? Does my level of Tzniut need to be worked on?'

This is a VERY high level to be on. We should IY'H aim for such a level!

I want to share a story that hit me very hard:
The Chasam Sofer had a daughter named Gittel who was very pretty. Once she was walking outside and noticed that a man was walking behind her in order to gaze at her. This disturbed her greatly and she came into her father’s house and started tearfully reciting Tehillim. Her father came over to her and asked why she was crying. She told him what had happened and that she was upset because her beauty was causing others to stumble. She decided to pray to Hashem to take away her beauty so it would no longer bring people to sin.

Are we even CLOSE to such a level?
Majority of women purposely dress in ways to GET attention. When a girl notices that she’s getting male attention, the last thought on a her mind is “Wow, I wish I was uglier so guys wouldn’t stumble because of me.”

Such a thought is unheard of! Sadly, one would be ridiculed for thinking such thoughts!
But the reality of it is.. We should try to attain such a level.

Be'ezrat Hashem, in the zechut of Chanukah, we should try to reach such a level. And in that merit, we should bring Moshiach, bimhera byamenu.

Chanukah Sameah!

Pleats With A Spin Let Us Shine From Within

Feel like you can't pull off the 'Beis Yaakov' look?
You're so wrong.

You don't have to find that typical black pleated skirt that almost every yeshivish girl owns (which I personally love). You can take that look
and add a spin to it!

I found that thinnerpleats and metallic tones are a great alternate to this
classic look. Regardless of your figure, this style flatters every body shape and every height.
I'd advise that girls who are more petite wear skirts that end about 5 inches below the knee, whereas girls with a fuller figure to wear skirts that end 3 inches below the knee. (Proportionally it just looks better.)

Make sure when you sit down the skirt still covers your knee. Don't be embarrassed to find a chair to sit on for a few seconds. Hashem will be smiling at you as you do it :)

The two skirts shown to the right can both be found at Topshop. Personally, I think the colors of these skirts are too striking, BUT I love the size of the pleats and the cut of the skirt.

When choosing such a strong metallic color you should make sure that the rest of the pieces in your outfit are simple. Also it helps if you wear an outfit like this at night.

(Left- FAIL. Right- STUNNING)

May we always act and look the way HaKadosh Baruch Hu's daughter's should. May we inspire, grow, and consistently improve ourselves, and may HKBH always continue to bless us!

Long skirts, & Winter!

Winter, Winter! IT HAS COME!

Don't be afraid to wear those long long skirts, you gotta play around with it and make it cute, they actually make you stand out more, if you like to be bold, and not blend in this is the perfect way. There even better then pants! Specially with all the colors they offer, even though they're not the typical black/ Gray or dull colors that are more for winter its still fine. Although we'll be seeing the winter colors for the skirts coming out soon as well.
These skirts are perfect for summer but they do great for winter as well, just put on a pair of leggings under there and whatever else you need to keep you warm and you'll look fun, hip and super stylish ; )
I know some of you might wish you could wear pants, or will want to wear pants, but honestly you don't have too, there's so many ways to go about this, so that you can look completely N.O.R.M.A.L.. whatever that means.. no reason to be cold, no reason to feel uncomfortable or in a way where you don't fit in. You just need to be creative.

Who said you cant be stylish wearing long skirts and even long sleeves? Don't be afraid to use those wild colors and prints, the more creative you are the more hip you look. Thought these photos might give you guys some ideas.

**Forever has a lot of nice color and prints of these type of long skirts, they go fast so if you see it TAKE IT! but you can always shop online via www.forever21.com.

Are You a True Jewish American Princess?

Hashem is our king, and we are all his daughters. That makes US princesses.
below are some examples of women that are recognized by everyone and therefore believe they are princesses. We all have to recognize, know and believe that we are princesses as well, much more than they are!!
A princess always has to look polished and put together when she goes out. You know what they say, to act the part you have to dress the part!!

Here is some inspiration :

Carla Bruni and Princess Letizia of Spain:

Princess Victoria of sweden:

           Queen Elena of Spain:

Queen Marie Of Denmark:

Maxima A. (south American bride) married prince Alexander of Netherlands)

Princess Marie of Denmark ( LOVE HER!)

Princess Firyal of Jordan (AMAZING dress)

Princess Victoria of Sweden

Queen Rania of Jordan

All these women know the true meaning of being a princess. They are the role models for the citizens of their country, and show everyone the proper way to dress and act. But these "Princesses" aren't anything special when compared to the REAL Bat-Melachot that we are. How much more so should we be watching the way we dress and behave to bring " a light unto the nations" ?

**btw just a heads up, Lord and Taylor has many tzniut dresses just like some of these ladies are wearing on the %40 off sale rack (perfect for weddings)!

I know it can get expensive , but this is money Hashem gave to you!! when you buy a dress, think of it as giving right back ;)

The Pointy-toe Flat!!

Pointy-Toe flats are the most perfect, comfortable way to pull together almost any outfit and give it instant sophistication.

I was at DSW (on old country road) today, and I saw a pair that are the perfect combination of daring and feminine.

As you can see, this pair is sixty dollars, but keep in mind that if you sign up for DSW rewards or have DSW rewards, you should be getting/will get a $10 off coupon in the mail.

This pair would look sooo cute with black tights, perfect for those windy fall days!

as I continued walking down the isle I saw a similiar pair by the same brand.....

but for 40% off!!!

which makes these babies a mere $36!!! plus than $10 coupon = $26 !!!! (AND they're nude!!)

Another place to check out for pointy toe flats is the Express website!! they have grey, red, black,  and leopard!!

also for only $36!!!
The red ones are the perfect way to add a pop of color to your outfit!

check it out:

Tziut-Spotting!!

I came across this page and I love love loved it because this model is fully Tzniut (modest)!
Her outfit is also so classy and stylish, and perfect for Kanissah/Shul!

Spice up this outfit by wearing stylish booties instead of your usual black or nude Steve Madden platform pumps!
If you aren't a heels type of girl, opt for pointy flats. They are much more comfortable, and just as sophisticated (pointy-toe flats blog post coming soon, stay tuned).

(Also, just as a heads-up to anyone interested, I saw a pair of  black Sam Edelman pointy flats at Century 21 sz 7 on the sale rack on sunday..run!)

To cinch this outfit together, add a long and chunky necklace like this one (Sharon's):

**Tip: I saw a shirt similar to the one the model is wearing on the forever21 website:

If you like this look, you should definitely check it out! (This shirt will fit everyones necklines differently though, so take that into consideration please and plan your outfit accordingly!)

Have an amazing day!

Fashion-Forward

We all know how hard it is to dress modestly. These days, thanks to the wonderful american values, its super hard to go to the mall and put together just one Tzniut (modest) outfit in even five hours spent at the mall!
So then us fashion-forward girls are faced with a dilemma. We might say "I want to dress the way I know I should, but since I cant find that perfect skirt, I'll get the tight stretchy one that is on my knee when I'm standing completely still. It's okay, Ill just keep yanking it down when I walk. No one will notice."
But why bother yourself with all this when you are walking around campus with your cell phone in one hand (come on, admit it, we all know..), and your books in the other? We all know that skirt won't be getting yanked down as much as it should.
So thats why I've created this blog; to BeH give you all the hot tips on where to find aaamazing, tzniout shirts and skirts (in all price ranges!), as well as update you on current trends with shoes, bags, and more!
So Stay Tuned :)
